Notes |
There is a single suc promoter upstream of the sucA gene and that transcription continues between the sucAB and sucCD: no independent transcription of the sucCD genes was detected.
Expression from the suc promoter was partially actived by Sigma38. sucA transcript start sites was defined previously by S1 mapping (Spencer and Guest, 1985).
The sucAB genes are flanked by three and four REP sequences.
3 RNase III cleavage sites are present in this region. Site A upstream of p2, site B in between p1 and p2, and site C dowstream of p1 inmediately.
Psuc (in a suc-lac fuzion) appears to be represed by CRP-although no CRP site has been found-. The significance of this 2 fold repression is obscure. |
